Yoga for you - our yoga pass explained

Our speciality at Maitri Studio is Iyengar yoga and we have several Iyengar yoga trained teachers offering classes throughout the summer for you. Click on their names to find out more about each teacher: Claire, Annamarie, Louise, Maura, Eva and Rachel.  

CLASSES

All classes offer a physical asana (posture) practice including some element of breath awareness and relaxation. As classes progress we introduce a range of pranayama (breath) practices. Iyengar yoga traditionally cycles through groups of poses week by week through the month: standing poses, forward bends, twists & seated, backbends, inversions and restorative with pranayama. Summer yoga series with Claire (special offer see cost below*) - a foundation / level 1 series for those just starting or ongoing and happy to stick with the basics - Wednesday evenings 6-7.15pm

Level 1 (slower paced) with Claire - Tuesday & Friday mornings 10-11.15am - physically active but with more props and at a slower pace so suitable as we age (mainly 55+, even into 80s, but all ages welcome)

Level 1 (active) - Tuesdays 6-7.15pm with Claire, Thursdays 6-7.15pm with Annamarie - physically active, can be faster paced and stronger

Level 1/2 - Sundays 9-10.30am with Louise, Claire, Maura and other Iyengar yoga teachers on rotation - physically active, can be faster paced and stronger (note no Sunday classes during July)

Level 2/3 with Claire - Tuesday evenings 7.30-9pm - for those with more experience and regular practice of headstand and shoulderstand

Chair yoga with Claire - suitable for those with mobility issues and who cannot get up and down from the floor easily - we've got people from 30s to 90s in this class! Keep moving at any age. 

Core yoga with Eva (trained in Iyengar yoga amongst other traditions) - Friday early morning 7.15-8.30am - flowing class focusing on abdominal, back and joint strength and mobility.

 

COST

10-classes passes (£90 / £70 conc) are valid for 12 weeks after date of purchase and cannot be extended. Please note that in comparison to paying drop-in you are getting 3 free classes!

6-class passes (£60) are valid for 7 weeks and effectively give you one free class over that period in comparison to drop-in.

There is plenty of opportunity to swap to other classes within the time limit if you are away on holiday or have other commitments. If you cannot be sure you will use them then choose drop-in.  All passes and drop-in are valid for any of the classes listed here, except the summer series special offer which is for those Wednesdays only. 

Drop-in £12 / £7.50 (conc)

Concessionary rates are to help people for whom money is a barrier to attendance. This may include, for example, full time students not earning, those on state pension only, people on full benefits or those with carer’s responsibilities and associated costs. We do not want affordability to prevent you attending yoga classes.

*Special offer for the summer series (Wednesday evenings) £70 / £58 (conc) for 8 classes. 

 

BOOKING

Click through to our booking page and set up your account, then choose the passes from the drop-down menu. Once bought, visit the calendar and register for the class you wish to attend.  

 

ALSO

Rachel Overton is another Iyengar yoga teacher who takes her bookings directly. She will teach 4 Mondays during the summer and then restart her Monday, Wednesday and Thursday classes from 22nd September. For more information and to book please visit her profile page
