My yoga story - Jada

Jada has been a ray of sunshine since she arrived in Belfast earlier this year! Many of you will have seen her about the studio after she found us and Maitri became the last link in the chain for her to make the decision to move here. No pressure then 😊 We’re so happy she’s been enjoying life here ever since.

I came to Maitri Studio for an Iyengar yoga workshop with Claire at the end of March 2025. That was my first time to come to Maitri Studio and at the time I was suffering from a painful knee. The yoga really helped me.

After this workshop I made the decision to move to Belfast asap then after 2 weeks I started my regular practice at Maitri Studio!

Since then I have found many activities which I have been interested in for long time and have now been able to try in this community, for example Bollywood dancing.

I really appreciate all the teachers and community!

At the beginning I just joined Iyengar Yoga class once per week on Tuesday evening and after several classes my knee was completely well. I began to join Aisling's monthly workshop on Wednesdays as well.

Gradually I've been on the path to holistic health. The teacher taught me the method of self-study and introduced me to books which let me know that yoga is not only the asanas (poses) but also the union of the individual self with the universal self.

I can gradually build up strength, confidence, and flexibility without the threat of strain or injury. Nowadays, I practise asanas in order to obtain the maximum benefit and practice is an essential part of my daily life.
