Zoe brings trauma informed yoga as well as accessible family yoga with art and crafts to Maitri Studio
Hello and welcome to my Maitri page!
I am an accessible yoga teacher with a passion for creating neurodiversity-affirming inclusive spaces. I am delighted to bring Trauma-Informed Yoga (TIY) and Family Yoga to Maitri Studio. If you’re interested in a private session, feel free to reach out via [email protected]. You can also email me to join my mailing list or check back here for group class updates.
Trauma-Informed Yoga is offered one-to-one or in closed small groups as a complementary practice to talk therapy. It safely teaches us about our unique nervous systems, helping us understand how triggers and positive sensations manifest in the body and how to regulate for a greater sense of ease in daily life.
“Reclaiming the power to listen and learning to tune in to the wisdom of the nervous system is part of living a life of well-being.” – Deb Dana, Anchored
Over an agreed number of weeks, students may engage with the first three foundational phases of trauma recovery. Through personalized embodiment and inner regulation practices, participants build capacity for calm, steadiness, resilience and connection on their healing journey.
“Zoe, taking your class is one of the most life-changing experiences. I loved every minute of it! I’ve learned so much about regulating my emotions and gained newfound confidence. Thank you!” – Kerry
Join me for Family Yoga, a joyful experience that helps families connect, have fun, and build confidence in a supportive studio environment. Each engaging class includes breathwork, creative movement, yoga poses, partner games, mindful relaxation, and songs. We close each session with an art activity that invites deeper exploration of a chosen theme. Family Yoga is suitable for children of all ages, and parents, caregivers, and family members will enjoy the interactive nature of the sessions, creating lasting bonds. Watch this space for the next session or get in touch to request a class via [email protected].
With a Master’s in Fine Art, I often incorporate simple art sessions into my classes to explore themes and topics. Before teaching yoga, I worked with various non profits and social enterprises, eventually leading art workshops for children and group fitness for adults with additional needs at my local YMCA in the U.S. As a parent of three, I found mindfulness and self-compassion essential for managing anxiety, gaining confidence in parenting and showing up more authentically in the world. This led me to train with Sophie Keil in yoga teaching, and after navigating the impacts of COVID on my health, I found my way to chair yoga as both a practice and teaching focus. Since then, I’ve been joyfully immersed in the accessible yoga movement, training in trauma-informed and accessible yoga with Susi Wrenshaw at Trauma Therapy Manchester, Breathe for Change US, The Accessible School, and Life Dock.
