Creative Wellbeing Project this summer

We were delighted to be approached by Binder Tohani (@bindertheartist on Instagram) as she applied for funding from Belfast City Council for a series of wellbeing and creativity workshops in East Belfast, and asked us to host them!

Binder will facilitate a series of five workshops through August and September at Maitri Studio. You can book for them individually or all together. We will put the booking link up here soon but in the meantime contact her through her instagram page above. 

We've put some brief details below and we will expand on these as the series is finalised. 

FRIDAY 21st August 2026 - 7-9pm – Abstract Art for Teenagers
This session will be about giving the young people a chance to explore their creativity through abstract art using a number of mediums.  Each person will choose a theme and base their art around a theme.

FRIDAY 28th AUGUST 2026 - 7-9pm - Cultural Connection through Henna Art 
Learn the history, myths and basics of henna design while exploring its cultural significance. We will explore pattern formations and practice to create designs from the learnings.  Participants will take part in a collaborative art project on canvas as part of this session.

SUNDAY 30th August 2026 - 7-8pm -  Bollywood, Bhangra, Bachata Dance & Movement Workshop
A joyful, high-energy session using Bollywood dance to build confidence, connection and self-expression through movement.

FRIDAY 4th September 2026 - 7-9pm Mandala Art & Mindfulness
Explore the calming practice of mandala creation, using pattern and repetition to support focus, relaxation and inner balance.

FRIDAY 25th September 2026 - 7.30-9.30pm – Women's Circle, Rituals and Story-Telling. A gentle introduction to the programme with chai and guided conversation. Participants enjoy a safe space and will explore reflective journaling as a tool for self-expression, mindfulness and emotional wellbeing.  We will set intentions and goals through journalling and share our lived experiences through our stories and life.
