Yin yoga with Danielle

If your days are filled with stress, a go go go mentality or your enjoy more vigorious forms of exercise including dynamic yoga practices, this is the balance you never knew you needed. This is a complimentary practice.

Purpose of yin yoga. Yin yoga aims to get into the deeper, stuck tissues and muscles in our body. It engages with the fascia and unties the knots we get into through our daily habits and other exercises. Yin yoga also allows us to sit with ourselves in stillness, prepare our body for meditation and turn off our fight or flight stress response (sympathetic pathway). Engaging our parasympathetic pathway (rest & digest).

Yin Yoga A yoga practice based on the ancient Chinese practice of Yin and Yang. Opposites. Balance. Yang practices include our other yoga practices, the gym, running, sports and our day jobs. Yin practice in contrast involves holding floor based yoga poses for an extended time with relaxed muscles and using all manners of bolsters and blocks to help aid our body into each pose. In each pose we may feel a "stress" (like a stretch) and/or compression (bones, muscles and tissues pressing upon one another). In these poses we try to find our comfortable edge, that is, that we can feel the intended "target area" of each pose and we try to find our 7/10 in our individual comfort levels. Ultimately to free up the space/ energy flow in our bodies, physically and mentally.

Suitable for all (no previous yoga experience needed)

Class: Tuesdays October to November 6-7.15pm

Investment: £8 drop in/ £50 full 8 weeks
