Ecstatic Dance*IN (March 2023)

We're very happy to host this month's Ecstatic Dance*IN facilitated by Julia Waters and playlist by James Hunter. It's still a little chilly for this to be a wild outside event, so inside it is in the warmth (literal and figurative) of Maitri Studio! It's a safe space dance zone: free of shoes, drugs/alcohol, talking (during the dancing). Opening intention and closing sharing circle facilitated by Julia, participation if you wish. We look forward to seeing you there.

Ecstatic Dance, 5 Rhythms Dance, Trance Dance …. are all forms of "conscious dance"....

Dancing is recognised as having huge physical and mental health benefits.

We hope that what we offer might be helpful for people with social anxiety, as we do not judge or have any expectations of participants, you are free to select only the parts of an event you feel comfortable with.

To dance “consciously” individuals or the group as a whole can at the start of a dance make an intention.

For example you (or the group) might make an intention for healing for yourself, other people, or the earth.

"Ecstatic" is not an emotion itself - it is a level of emotion.

Ecstatic means outside or beside yourself.

In present day culture we think of Ecstatic as a state of happiness or bliss, but actually you could be beside yourself with grief or anger.

In an Ecstatic Dance you are free to express any emotion that crops up, you will not be judged, you will be in a space where we dance together and celebrate our shared humanity.
